Quilter's Profile
Marjorie Hoeltzel fell in love with quilting many years ago, while watching her grandmother sew. "She would combine strips of fabric into quilts, usually a Log Cabin design," recalls the St. Louis-based artist. "That sparked my lifelong passion for using what was at hand to create for my family."

She passed through numerous needlecrafting phases, eventually evolving to large-scale constructions of metal grids wrapped in torn textile strips. "But I missed sewing," she admits. Fifteen years ago, she returned to it. "My quilts aren’t as functional as my grandmother’s, but I guess her genes prevailed."
